Geographic setting

Scarpa, bordering the towns of Castel Rocchero (AT), Montabone (AT) and Acqui Terme (AL). 60% sandy soil. Vine cut Guyot, growing at 400 mt (1310 ft) above sea level. The vineyard is more than 35 years old

Organoleptic data

Colour: bright clear ruby red with orange hints 

Bouquet: intense and very characteristic, fruity and mineral with notes of violets, roses plums and berries and a persistent fragrance of wild morello cherry, slight hints of liquorice. Deep mineral tones reveal graphite and slate, then baking spices appears

Taste: fresh, dry, austere, velvety after the fourth year, harmonious  body, very elegant but powerful, fleshy with savoury tones. A great expression of Barbera

Temperature of service: 16° C
