The Deltetto company was founded in 1953 by Carlo Deltetto in Canale, the historical centre of the Roero, a land separated from the Langhe by the river Tanaro. In a territory of great grape-growing tradition, Carlo immediately adopted a philosophy concerning the quality of the traditional vines like the Nebbiolo and Barbera without neglecting the Arneis and Favorita whites in their perfect habitat on the steep hills of the Roero.
Today the company is still family run and there are now approx 20 hectares of vine-yards in the boroughs of Canale, Santo Stefano Roero and Castellinaldo. The production is equally divided between the reds and whites but with the Roero, the most important red in the area made with Nebbiolo grapes, and the Roero Arneis stand out from the crowd. Thanks to acknowledgements for the D.O.C.G. 2005 harvest, these wines are now considered to be amongst the most important in Italy.
The production is varied and complete, including the traditional red wines such as the Roero Braja, the Barolo Sistaglia, the Barbera “Rocche delle Marasche” and the Barbera Bramè. With regards to the white wines, the Arneis San Michele, the Arneis Daivej and the Favorita Servaj are produced and have found their best habitat in the Roero area.
“Bric” means the “top of a hill” in the local dialect and “liun” means “lion”. The splendid position produces grapes of excellent quality, and low production due to green harvesting, overmaturing in the vineyard, drying in small boxes in the open air and a bit of noble rot (botrytis) transform the grapes into a well concentrated, captivating nectar with...
The piedmontese word bramè means desire, crave for something; it perfectly describes the sensations this wine is meant to create since its first sip
The name of the vineyard, that enjoys a beautiful location in the village of Castellinaldo, comes from “marasca”, a variety of cherries once quite commonly grown throughout in Roero vineyards. The key in producing this truly intense and elegant wine is with a green harvest, a thinning out process during the growing season that allows the remaining grapes...
For Piedmontese people, Favorita is the local correspondent of Vermentino, that came long time ago from the neighbor Liguria throught the famous “Via del Sale”. The name we dedicated to this wine derives from the word “selvaggio – wild”, that recalls the steep and sandy hills of Roero, full of vineyards and woods
“I Lioni” is the nickname with which our family was known in the area, and from which it takes its name the big house in the countryside where the first bottles were produced. In 2017 the tradition has been renovated with the birth of Leone, Cristina and Giorgio’s son
The viticultural history of our family has origins in Canale, from the same hill in which, still today, we grow our RA. The Piedmontese name “dai vej” translates from “the old (people)” and wants to be an homage to our ancestors
The Deletto family has been growing Arneis since 1977, when a young Antonio, inspired by his father Carlo, made his first 933 bottles. Located on San Michele hill, just around the corner from the winery, this vineyard gives, thanks to its soil full of sand and marls, unique characteristics to this wine that has always been a landmark for our region
The Nebbiolo from Roero in its best expression, classic, elegant and fruity. It’s produced from the Santo Stefano Roero vineyard, that was inherited by Graziella’s father, Aldo
From our vineyard Braja in Santo Stefano Roero we make our Roero Riserva, that takes its name from the Piedmontese dialect word “shout” and was inherited by our maternal grandfather Aldo. The wine is perfectly expressing the combination in elegance and power of Nebbiolo. The vines enjoy a south-west exposure, with a sandy soil that exalt the typical...
