Pira Luigi winery is located in Serralunga d’Alba, a small village of Langhe, in the heart of Barolo production area.
It was founded by Pira family in ’50; Rosa and Luigi used to dedicate their work mainly to their vineyards, to sale grapes and to produce few bottles.
In ’90s, when their sons began to work in the company, it has started the project of vinification of all grapes with the ambition of producing high quality wine: Dolcetto d’Alba, Barbera d’Alba Superiore, Langhe Nebbiolo and Barolo.
The winery courrently has around 12 hectares, part of which are located in 3 historical sub-areas of great qualitative vocation for Barolo: Vigna Margheria, Vigna Marenca, and Vignarionda.
To the eye, Barbera is deep ruby-red in colour. The bouquet is young and complex, with a pleasant combination of oak spices and wild berries. To the palate, the wine offers a great, well-balanced, fascinating body with a long, luxurious taste
To the eye, Barolo Marenca has a deep burgundy red colour. The bouquet is exceptionally fresh and complex, with hints of wild berries, vanilla, chocolate and aromatic herbs. To the eye, Barolo Margheria has a burgundy red colour. The bouquet is very intense and complex, with fruity, flowery notes and subtle suggestions of leather and fresh hay. To the palate, the wine is very intense, yet elegant, and has the pleasant tannins that are typical of Nebbiolo and the Serralunga area
