Geographical location

This Alta Langa comes from hilly and marl calcareous soil in the area of Rodello a precious area ideal for Alta Langa. Pinot Nero and Chardonnay grapes are grown according to Piedmonts traditions where the production method is “metodo classico” with the refermentation in the bottle. Matteo Giribaldi, our young winemaker third generation, created his first piece of art in 2006 with his first Barolo and continued in 2011 with his first spumante which is the art of our future

Training system and vineyards

The organic vineyards of Pinot Nero (60%) and Chardonnay (40%) are grown in Rodello and are 510 and 550 meters above sea level with an East exposure

Technological mentions

Handpicked at the end of August beginning of September. A soft pressing of the grapes and only the heart of the second pressing is used. The fermentation is in steel tanks at a temperature of 13-14°C for 28 days. The wine remains in steel for some months with battonage once a week. In Spring, the wine then referments in the bottle and this last 60 days. The wine is then left to lie on its yeasts for 30 months, in accordance with the strict regulations, yet with the 2014 vintage, the wine lay for 36 months. The bottles are kept horizontally in our underground cellars. Finally the bottles are placed on pupitres, and are all turned manually one by one, by hand, preparing the wine for the final “disgorge”

Sensory characteristics

Bright gold with a fine and persistant perlage. Aromatic on the nose, elegant and powerful. Hints of minerals ,dry fruit and honey. In the mouth a creamy and fine perlage. Fine beads of tiny, lingering bubbles and attractively dry and savoury on the palate. A long citrus finish.
